'Never Too Much,' the acclaimed CNN Films documentary on R&B superstar Luther Vandross premieres on CNN Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8pm ET. Encore screenings are scheduled for 11 pm ET January 1 and 8 pm ET Saturday, January 4.
Directed by Dawn Porter (Good Trouble: The John Lewis Story, Trapped) and featuring commentary by Valerie Simpson, Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick and Roberta Flack, ‘Never Too Much’ looks at the expansive career of Vandross - from his early days on ‘Sesame Street’ to being the voice behind some of the advertising world’s most memorable jingles to his professional recording career that spawned eight Grammys.
“It was thrilling to explore Luther’s musical genius while making this film,” said director Dawn Porter in a CNN Films press release. “We combed through hundreds of hours of interviews, concert footage and images to develop this one-of-a-kind portrait.” Porter added “I’m so fortunate to have had the opportunity to tell this story at a time when so much else seems divisive, Luther’s story is joy personified.”
Comedian/actor/singer Jamie Foxx and actor Colin Firth are among the film’s producers.
The film will also premiere later this year on OWN and MAX. Watch the trailer: https://youtu.be/YuXKudqd7Ro
